What is Oxygen Advantage training?


The Oxygen Advantage® is about breathing to improve oxygen uptake, along with specific breath holding techniques to simulate high altitude training. Having a higher aerobic and anaerobic capacity enables us to do more with less, to exercise faster and further with each breath.


Our respiratory and chemical systems are often disrupted by our lifestyles and the impact of stress. Tapping into our breathing patterns on a daily basis helps us overcome and build a different relationship with chronic stress, panic attacks, anxiety, asthma, sleep apnea and many other symptoms of dysfunctional breathing.

Here we introduce you to hypoxia/hypercapnic states. Through breathing, and holding our breath we create adaptations and changes in the amount of oxygen present in the cell's plasma. This is associated with higher oxygen delivery to your entire body. By practicing this method, we are creating beneficial adaptations, increasing performance, optimizing recovery, increasing sleep quality, and immune system response.

What will you learn?

The Oxygen Advantage® technique is based on three fundamentals of functional breathing:

  1. Biochemistry – The body's sensitivity to the build-up of carbon dioxide in the blood. The cascade effect that this build up has on the rest of the body.

  2. Biomechanics – Physical aspect of breathing and breathing muscles. Functional posture and resting state.

  3. Cadence/Coherent breathing – Connecting the mind to the rhythm and frequency of breathing.


The three dimensions of breathing are shared in a unique, simple series of protocols that can be used at rest and during exercise. This is an accessible program, designed to retrain the breath. The focus is on light, slow and deep breathing through out your daily life.
